The silent cry

Through the silence of the evening

Ran a silent cry

unheard, uncared, unnoticed.

A day in waiting, prayers on lips

Muffled voices, tales waiting to be told

Wilting slowly in the sun.

That one drop of water

That pearl in the tears

A silent prayer

The cry, growing louder

screams. Lost in the crowd

of voices, of laughter, of heretic chatter.

The dawn ushers in renewed efforts.

Efforts die. The voices wither

Silence remains. The cry becomes louder.
