That Boy
That boy was wrong. Stones are hard to break
The human life is softer, easier to take
He was naïve, that boy. The window of life,
The road, paved with stones. Reminder of his failure.
Voices in his head guide him through the path of return,
He chose to strangulate himself to death, instead.
That boy was wrong. Stones are hard to break
The human life is softer, easier to take.
Paths show the way forward. Mindful of the secrets.
Human life is cheap. Easy to take.
Translated from Bengali. Original poem ‘ছেলেটা’ was written by Shakti Chattopadhyay. Today is his 86th birth anniversary.

It’s really heartwarming to see another Bengali write so well.
